Prospective students whose native language is not English are required to demonstrate proficiency in English in one of two ways, during the application process.
- The student can include with the application a diploma or transcript showing completion of a high-school or undergraduate program at a school where the medium of instruction is English, or
- The student can include with the application scores from one of several possible English-proficiency tests. The following are the tests we accept and the minimum scores required for each test:
- Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): 60 on the Paper-Based Test or 71 on the Internet-Based Test
- International English Language Test (IELTS): 6.5
- Pearson Test of English Academic Score Report: 50
- Duolingo English Test: 100
- 4-Skill Michigan English Test (MET): 55
- Michigan Examination for the Certificate of Competency in English (ECCE): 650/LP
- Michigan Examination for the Certificate of Proficiency in English (ECPE): 650/LP
- Eiken English Proficiency Exam: Pre-1
