It’s the most wonderful time of the year – that time when you get to decide which of our upcoming classes you want to take!
Registration is now open for the Spring 2016 semester at Signum University. Starting the week of Jan. 11, 2016, we have four courses to choose from.
Language Invention Through Tolkien: Exploring a Shared “Secret Vice”
Quenya and Sindarin; Dothraki; Aklo; even Klingon. It’s almost a prerequisite now that authors create languages – or at least bits of languages – with their speculative works. Led by Dr. Andrew Higgins, with special talks from Dr. Dimitra Fimi and Carl F. Hostetter, this class will provide both a theoretical and practical look at the creation, evolution, and use of invented languages throughout the history of literature and elsewhere.

Elementary Latin I
Latin is a classical language that underpins a great many of the words, phrases, and ideas of our modern language and culture – it’s used, in various forms, in everything from law and medicine to all forms of the humanities, and beyond. Combined with Elementary Latin II, this course offers a great foundation for the study of Latin.
