When setting out on an academic expedition, learners can easily feel daunted by the countless areas of study there are to choose from. The SPACE program at Signum University is here to guide students through the vast academic frontier, providing opportunities to enjoy focused study on specific topics alongside fellow explorers. Allow us to give you the grand tour.
The first step is to sign up for a no-cost Blackberry account where you can purchase SPACE tokens. Each token can be redeemed for one month-long SPACE module. These tokens never expire, and they can be given as gifts to intrepid and curious friends by filling out a simple gift form. Once tokens have been purchased, it’s time to explore the modules. Students can sign up for a confirmed module or cast their vote for upcoming courses based on a list of potential classes. For June, some of the candidate courses include Here Be Dragons in Fantasy Studies, Beginning Scottish Gaelic in Beginning Languages, Advanced Greek Readings: Gospel of John, and Creative Writing: Writing the Hero. Whatever area of study students are most interested in, there is sure to be a module that piques their curiosity.
Once students have chosen their course, the real adventure begins. Each module lasts one month and typically includes bi-weekly meetings that last one hour each. These meetings create space for both rich and fun academic discussions based on the week’s reading, all of which is guided by the course’s preceptor. While the courses are academically serious, there is no denying the genuine love and passion for learning that pervades the SPACE community.
