Signum University has many opportunities for learning and fun, and some of those are absolutely free. The Mythgard Institute is the Cool Free Stuff arm of the university, featuring some of the scholars and personalities of the university sharing what they love most. Many friends of the University have come to us through Mythgard — why? what do they love? what do they learn? I asked some members of our community what their favorite Mythgard programs are.
Number one? Mythgard Academy. College-level analysis and live discussion on books that you love for the cost of whatever snacks you’re enjoying at the time. And it’s the easiest way to dip your toe into the Signum Community pool! Meet like-minded nerds who get you. Mythgard Academy meets on Wednesday nights and features Corey Olsen in dialogue with the community to discuss and enjoy. Right now, we are studying The Name of the Rose. Follow that link for the schedule and links to Twitch or YouTube.
Other respondents say that they love most: SilmFilmProject. “It’s fun to listen to then engage in via forums and live to influence the shape of that long term adaptation of story. Just so cool.” Follow the above link for the schedule and links for joining in!
How could you find all of those activities and broadcasts? Just add the University’s Activity Calendar to your Google calendar!
What’s my own favorite free thing at Signum? Glad you asked. I get to meet people from all over the world and… sit quietly working in shared space with them. It’s WriterSpace, a time when folks just hop in when they can and leave when they must. An opportunity to write a novel! or a piece of flash fiction! Time to fold your socks or sort through photos! Work alone without being lonely. Again, that link should set you up nicely. There are even some writing resources on the page for the off-hours.
Sir MiniMax the Optimizer, Signum’s Pet of the Month, is considering what foolishness the two-foots are getting up to from the comfort of his comfy chair.
