Mythmoot XI: FAQ

When do Guest of Honor announcements come out?

They are now live on the Mythmoot Page! We have some pretty wizards guests this year for you.

When do the official schedule and Zoom links come out?

Much closer to the event! A draft version will be available in late May/early June, but the official version of the schedule will not be released until very close to the start of the conference to ensure it is as accurate as possible. Zoom links will be made accessible in the Mythmoot Slack.

What is the Mythmoot Slack?

Slack is how all communication during Mythmoot is run, and if you aren’t familiar with Slack it is a messaging app. This is intended for MootHub and onsite participants. Everyone who has registered will receive an email with instructions on joining the Mythmoot Slack. The Slack website has some very helpful basics on getting started in you are unfamiliar with it.

What is the Silent Auction?

The Silent Auction is at heart a fundraiser for Signum run on donations from our generous attendees. People who have items of interest can contact [email protected] for details, but the items (figurines, books, miscellaneous items of nerdiness and geekery) are listed at a low starting bid and those attending in person can place bids throughout the weekend.

The Silent Auction closes after breakfast on Sunday morning. Cash is preferable for payment, and if you are not staying through Sunday we will ask that you add the cost of shipping to your final bid amount.

How do I participate in the Costume Contest? and do I have to be in-person?

If you are attending in person, the answer is simple: show up Saturday evening dressed up!

For MootHub attendees you can participate by submitting your photo to Mythmoot Coordinator, Laurel Stevens, once the conference slack is open. We ask that if you are participating in the costume contest that your photos be taken for Mythmoot and not be from a previous event. They must be sent no later than 5:30 PM EST on Saturday, June 24th.

Can I volunteer at Mythmoot?

Yes! There will be a call for volunteers going out close to the event, but you can also contact [email protected] if you are interested in volunteering.

How can I access the recordings from Mythmoot?

Blackberry, the system you use to register for Mythmoot, will get you access to the recordings after Mythmoot is over the and staff has had the chance to upload them.

How is COVID-19 being addressed?

The CDC, the state of Virginia, and hence the NCC no longer have any legal requirements regarding masking. We encourage and welcome all attendees to mask, sanitize, and take care to the level that they are most comfortable with.

Sanitizer will be available onsite in the conference rooms for use.

I have a question that isn’t here. Who do I ask?
