“Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die.” –The Princess Bride

From the Thinking Fox, Bergil, and Beregond in the Lord of the Rings, to Princess Irulan, Jamis, and the Mother Superior in Dune, and a host of others in between secondary, tertiary, and other fringe characters provide insight into the nature of the primary characters, the progression of the plot, and the overall world in which the characters exist. Each character is the star of their own story and volumes might be written from their points of view. The Princess Bride, as told by Inigo, would be quite different, with the primary events overshadowed by personal vengeance and ultimately making way for adventure on the high seas.

Cascade Moot 2024 focuses on those characters who are less immediately involved with the trials and challenges of the main characters but more focused on other matters while still providing a vital viewpoint. As we glean more information from their input, we see other facets of the story creating a more satisfying gem of a narrative.

Join us and share your insights into the minds, hearts, and experiences of the characters on the fringe. Bring your critical analysis, your Fan Fic masterpieces, and your delightful presence to us in Seattle. The Emerald City beckons. One might even say, “Follow the yellow brick road!”
