Summer 2013 Courses Are Here

,

Get ready for an exciting Summer term at Signum University!  We’ve got three great courses on offer for the upcoming semester and can’t wait for you to dive in and learn more about each of them.  Here goes:

From Mythgard Institute comes both The Dystopian Tradition and Beyond Middle-earth. In the former, Dr. Amy H. Sturgis returns for an exploration of the dark side of “What If?” as she guides students through the thought experiments of this provocative genre. The Dystopian Tradition will cover some of the best books and films, including 1984, Metropolis, Farenheit 451Blade Runner, and The Hunger Games.  It’s not to be missed!  In the latter, Dr. Corey Olsen is joined by renowned Tolkien scholar and writer, Dr. Tom Shippey for their twelve week journey into Tolkien’s work “Beyond Middle-earth.”  Students will discover a new side of their favorite author as they read his short stories, scholarly essays and poems, all of which uncover the development of incredible creativity.

At Signum University, a special encourse presentation of Elementary Latin II will give students who missed the first offering in Fall 2012 to continue their Latin language learning – at a discount!  Even if you want to jump in at a slightly higher level of Latin, live preceptor Dr. Carol Leibiger will prove an excellent mentor as she takes your through lecturer Philip Walsh’s lessons.

All courses can be taken for M.A. credit or audited for the love of learning and are available for enrollment through Friday, May 31, 2013. Classes start the week of May 13th.
