Dr. Mark Womack holds degrees in English from the University of Texas at Austin (Ph.D.), the University of California at Irvine (M.A.), and Rice University (B.A.). His scholarly writing employs fine-grained linguistic analysis to explore how Renaissance authors like Shakespeare and Milton manipulate style and form to create richly rewarding experiences for their audiences.

As a teacher, he focuses on helping students to read closely and write clearly. He teaches on a wide range of subjects including Shakespeare, Milton, Renaissance Drama, the Theory and Practice of Close Reading, and J.R.R. Tolkien.
